An opulent relationship on a street of decadence,
Blossoming through cracks in the ground.
Never wilting under the burning sun,
But taking nourishment for sustenance from around.
A summer breeze drawing a shiver,
Huddling together so that we never wither
Braving the blizzard during winter,
Cuts from the wind causing a splinter.
Seasons change, our solidarity strengthens,
From roots up, our happiness lengthens.
But then came stagnation and initiated the ending,
But such was the conviction, the attempted mending
Who knew what tomorrow would bring?
For now, they held close and just let their harmony sing.
