A Cautionary Tale

New Year, Old Problems.

The date might change,

But nothing else does.

Time might change,

But you’re still stuck in the same price range.

You make resolutions, yet you don’t know who you are,

You wish at 11.11, always look for a shooting star.

You say it’s a new beginning, but what about problems of yesterday?

“let them go” but they don’t go away.

Financial Crisis, People dying,

Hearts are broken by lovers lying.

How much longer till we stop trying?

New Year’s kiss,

Full of bliss,

Wake up to an empty bed, and memories of yesterday you miss.

So a happy 2012,

Into a new set of 365 days we delve,

Maybe it’s time to right the wrongs before starting anew.

Look in the mirror, look for you,

Tomorrow’s brightness is not on the outside but within.

This much is true.
