Open letter to a best friend

Dear Best Friend of mine

There was a time when Architects built monuments that symbolized the greatness of humanity. But now, architects build box plazas and glass menageries on every other street. But all that is about to change over the course over the next few years.

You bring to Architecture… wait no, let me start again.

You bring to everyday life a breath of fresh air. You bring to relationships a breath of genuine goodness that is lacking from modern day society. You bring to academics and ingenuity that is often unparalleled. Lastly, you bring to Architecture a vision that is unique only to all that you stand for; greatness, goodness, grandeur.

Architecture is a difficult subject, but you’ve never walked away from challenges that test your creativity. Architecture is an area which is at risk of being redefined into a simplistic career of mindlessly building matchboxes for people to live in, or overly complicated metallic structures for people to shop in; however, you’re art work is for majestic structures that will encompass both humanity’s greatness and progression.

Never be daunted by the tasks you are faced with, each task is a journey, an addition to your ever growing portfolio. Never be daunted by those around you for you have spirit and a drive in addition to raw talent that can equal and better yet, surpass the others.

Architecture arouses sentiments in man. Your task therefore, is to make those sentiments more precise and you will do it.

Regards and admiration,

Best Friend, (whose happiness you are a constantly employed architect of).
